Great Home Theater Receiver! : Denon AVR2112CI Integrated Network A/V Surround Receiver

When I bought a new plasma TV I felt the need to replace my old Marantz receiver which had very limited HDMI inputs and no 3D. I set the unit up using the supplied microphone and a tripod, and it took about 20 minutes to map 9 positions in the room. Overall it was a pretty easy process, and the results were amazing. I thought I had 3D sound before, but compared to the Denon it was crap. I clearly did not have the ability to calibrate the Marantz properly and have been astounded at what a difference proper calibration makes. The sound field is open and spacious, the bass in perfect proportion, and the blending among the five speakers is seamless. The unit is also compact, runs cool, and has enough inputs to handle anything I might throw at it. I have not used the Netflix or other online programming because my Apple TV does such a good job with that.

The negative on this unit is the setup interface; it looks like you are still in DOS and you expect to see a blinking square. After seeing Apple and appreciating how an interface can work, this is really a disappointment. I still have not been able to program the remote to control the TV and DVD player. The fact that the manual is on a CD does not help the situation. It really needs to be redone.
